December Post Ideas for Photographers | Marketing for Photographers with Ariel Dilworth

trust = business

Social media can be a very valuable tool for photographers! At the same time, we both know that coming up with what to post can feel like a lot! But social media is not for selling! It is is a way for us to show up regularly for our audience and establish connecting points with them. Because, when it comes to marketing, connection = trust and trust = business.

celebrate

One of my favorite ways to do this is to celebrate with my followers.

Whether it’s Dog Day, International Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, or the old “talk like a pirate day”… count me in! Any excuse to celebrate with my audience and raise brand awareness. (Click HERE to learn more about Social Media for Photographers)

Do I celebrate these holidays in real life? Probably not! Except i’m definitely going to be celebrating, “Ice Cream for Breakfast Day!” However, when we ignore all of these holidays, we are missing a valuable opportunity! We need to take advantage of trending topics and fun holiday content to establish potential connections with our audience. Yes, I am suggesting that someone might like you more just because you both like cookies and cream ice cream the best!

I created this list of fun ideas for social media posts for December! Now you have no excuses! Head over to Instagram or Facebook and get to planning!

December post ideas for photographers

December 2

Cyber Monday (#cybermonday)! Fall and Christmas Mini Sessions are over so it’s time to think about how we are going to keep our schedules full during the winter. Take this Cyber Monday to think of something fun you could do in January and February to boost sales. Focus on a different type of session or even offer a type of themed mini session, “Winter White” or “Cozy Couples Sessions.”

December 4

National Cookie Day (#NationalCookieDay)! I love me some sweet treats! Especially when Christmas is approaching. Share a favorite recipe with your clients of your favorite holiday cookie and ask them what theirs is!

December 21

First Day of Winter (#wintersolstice)! Share a blog post of some of your FAVORITE winter traditions and one of them on your social media post as a motivation to get them to “read more on the blog.” To really get the most engagement, try to focus on who you’re sharing it with. For example, a wedding photographer could post a blog about “Top 10 Christmas Couples Traditions” or “Winter Date Night Guide!” For families you could share something like, “Clutter-Free Christmas Gifts.”

December 25

Christmas (#Christmas)! If you celebrate Christmas post a quick behind the scenes totally candid picture with your family. Nothing fancy. Show them your real life and watch your engagement go sky high.

December 31

New Year’s Eve (#NYE)! Take this chance to share with your audience what you’ve learned this year and some goals you have going into the next year. Share some goal ideas that would relate to your ideal client and tips for how to accomplish them!
