October Post Ideas for Photographers | Marketing for Photographers with Ariel Dilworth

trust = business

Social media can be a very valuable tool for photographers! At the same time, we both know that coming up with what to post can feel like a lot! But social media is not for selling! It is is a way for us to show up regularly for our audience and establish connecting points with them. Because, when it comes to marketing, connection = trust and trust = business.

celebrate

One of my favorite ways to do this is to celebrate with my followers.

Whether it’s Dog Day, International Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, or the old “talk like a pirate day”… count me in! Any excuse to celebrate with my audience and raise brand awareness. (Click HERE to learn more about Social Media for Photographers)

Do I celebrate these holidays in real life? Probably not! Except i’m definitely going to be celebrating, “Ice Cream for Breakfast Day!” However, when we ignore all of these holidays, we are missing a valuable opportunity! We need to take advantage of trending topics and fun holiday content to establish potential connections with our audience. Yes, I am suggesting that someone might like you more just because you both like cookies and cream ice cream the best!

I created this list of fun ideas for social media posts for October! Now you have no excuses! Head over to Instagram or Facebook and get to planning!

October post ideas for photographers

October 1-

International Coffee Day (#International Coffee Day)! Take a photo of your morning brew and share it with your audience asking what their favorite type of coffee is. Head to your local coffee shop for some editing and tag them in your stories. Or, do a poll on whether your audience is creamer and sugar coffee drinkers or do they like it au natural?

October 2-

World Smile Day (#worldsmileday)! It is literally our job to make people smile for a living. Share with your audience what to expect when it comes to a session with you and maybe even a few of your favorite prompts for getting those real smiles and laughs out of them!

October 4- National Taco Day

National Taco Day (#nationaltacoday)! Can every day be Taco Tuesday? Take this opportunity to share your love of tacos with the world and make sure you tag your favorite local taco joint!

October 5- World Teachers Day

World Teachers Day (#WorldTeachersDay)! I’m not sure about you but most of my clients come from dual income households so I get a lot of teachers, nurses, etc. I always make sure to do a shoutout to teachers on National Teacher Day and maybe even do a Starbucks Gift Card giveaway on me! 🙂

October 10- World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day (#worldmentalhealthday)! Mental health is a hot button topic but I like to get vulnerable and real in my brand. If you or your ideal clients struggle with anxiety or depression open up a little bit about that struggle with them and even offer some advice on your favorite ways to cope!

October 14- National Dessert Day

National Dessert Day (#NationalDesertDay)! Nobody has a bigger sweet tooth than me. Take this chance to share with your audience one of your all time favorite desserts, how you encountered it, and share the recipe with them! Even do a live video showing them a behind the scenes of you making it!

October 17- International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (#EndPoverty)! Did you know that businesses that support some kind of Charity are more successful than others. Maybe you donate an 50% of an entire weeks worth of sessions income to end poverty! Or, perhaps you organize a food drive or something else to help end poverty in your local community! Studies show that this has a positive impact on your image but also leads to more loyal customers!

October 31- Halloween

Halloween (#Halloween)! Give sneak peeks leading up to giant review of your Halloween Costume. Ask people on Facebook to drop a GIF in the comment of what they or their kids will be dressing up as on Halloween. This is always one of my most popular posts of the entire month! Don’t miss this opportunity to get extra engagement!
