Social media can be a very valuable tool for photographers! At the same time, we both know that coming up with what to post can feel like a lot! But social media is not for selling! It is is a way for us to show up regularly for our audience and establish connecting points with them. Because, when it comes to marketing, connection = trust and trust = business.
One of my favorite ways to do this is to celebrate with my followers.
Whether it’s Dog Day, International Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, or the old “talk like a pirate day”… count me in! Any excuse to celebrate with my audience and raise brand awareness. (Click HERE to learn more about Social Media for Photographers)
Do I celebrate these holidays in real life? Probably not! Except i’m definitely going to be celebrating, “Ice Cream for Breakfast Day!” However, when we ignore all of these holidays, we are missing a valuable opportunity! We need to take advantage of trending topics and fun holiday content to establish potential connections with our audience. Yes, I am suggesting that someone might like you more just because you both like cookies and cream ice cream the best!
International Day of Charity (#CharityDay)! Giving back is so important! A lot of small businesses choose to give back to their communities in a variety of ways! Whether its donating gift cards to a silent auction or a fundraiser for one of your favorite non-profits! Share with your audience something you like to do to make the world a better place!
Read a Book Day (#readabookday)! Take this chance to share your favorite book that your audience would also love! Or, tell them you are looking for a new book to read and ask them to leave their faves in the comments! It’s a great way to boost engagement on your page!
National Grandparents Day (#GrandparentsDay)! Celebrate those special people in your life that we like to call grandparents! Share a special story of something you learned from your grandparents and ask your audience to drop a picture of them with their grandparents in the comments!
National Day of Encouragement (#DayofEncouragement)! Encouragement is always needed! Take this opportunity to share some positive vibes with your audience and even offer a few screensavers created on Canva with some of your favorite positive quotes!
International Day of Peace (#PeaceDay)! Peace is something everybody longs for. Take this chance to tell your audience what peace means to you and how you think it can be achieved. If going deep isn’t your thing, celebrate this day by telling them how they can have more “peace” during the time leading up to their session! Give them outfit advice, tips for grumpy kids and guys & anything else that will make the day go more smoothly!
First Day of Fall! If you haven’t already done so, announce your fall mini sessions! Read THIS BLOG to find out how I built a six figure business in a town where I knew not one soul with mini-session marketing.
International Podcast Day (#internationalpodcastday)! Share with your audience your favorite podcasts to listen to! Bonus points if it intertwines with something they are interested in to! Ask them what their favorite podcasts are in return!
